Biography
I currently serve as a Project Manager at Caterpillar Inc., where I lead cross-functional initiatives that drive efficiency, foster innovation, and align with enterprise-level objectives. With a career spanning corporate, nonprofit, and hospitality sectors, I bring a multidimensional lens to project management leadership—combining hands-on execution with a strategic focus on organizational alignment and long-term impact.
As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and an active member of the Project Management Institute’s Tucson Chapter, I help advance the profession through relationship-building, continuous learning, and community engagement.
Prior to my current role, I served as Operations Manager at the Tucson Indian Center, gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit governance, board relations, and organizational development. Earlier in my career, I led regional teams as a Sales and Marketing Supervisor in the hospitality industry, promoting Fortune 500 brands at major events across Southern California. These experiences sharpened my skills in event execution, budget oversight, and team leadership, laying a strong foundation for my transition into strategic project management.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Arizona.
Current PMI Chapter Volunteer Position Held (if any):
I was a Volunteer for the PMI Tucson Chapter and assisted in getting donations for the 2023 and 2024 Holiday Party.
Why are you running?
Through my PMP certification and active involvement with the PMI Tucson Chapter, I’ve seen how project management transforms careers and drives change across industries. Volunteering with PMI helped me secure my current role, highlighting the power of professional networks. After returning to Tucson in 2021, I reignited my commitment to growing Arizona’s project management sector. Our state’s rapid development offers unique opportunities in aerospace, mining, construction, renewable energy, and tech. I’ve built strong relationships with local leaders and will leverage these connections to bring influential voices into our chapter—whether as speakers, mentors, or partners. Serving on this inaugural board allows me to contribute fresh ideas, foster collaboration, and build a thriving ecosystem through inclusive programming and advocacy. Together, we can elevate every voice, unlock potential, and shape a future where project leaders drive lasting, inclusive impact.
What specific personal talents, skills, or experience will you bring to the PMI Arizona Chapter?
As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with a diverse background in both nonprofit and corporate sectors, I bring a well-rounded perspective and a strong commitment to community engagement. My experience as Operations Manager at the Tucson Indian Center provided me with direct involvement in board governance, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning. I successfully navigated complex relationships with donors, board members, community partners, and beneficiaries—skills that are essential for effective board leadership. In the corporate realm, I served as a supervisor for a Fortune 500 company, where I completed multiple leadership development programs and coached team members to achieve their financial and professional goals. This experience sharpened my ability to lead with empathy, drive performance, and foster team cohesion. Additionally, my active participation in supporting over 20 non-profits in Tucson has given me a deep understanding of local demographics and key community leaders. I’m passionate about building bridges between sectors, promoting inclusive leadership, and supporting the growth of project management professionals across Arizona. As a board member, I would bring strategic insight, a collaborative spirit, and a strong sense of accountability to help advance the PMI Arizona Chapter’s mission and expand its impact throughout the region.
How do you envision the new AZ Chapter fostering inclusivity and delivering meaningful value to all members?
I plan to foster inclusivity and deliver meaningful value to all members of the PMI Arizona Chapter by prioritizing inclusive language, active listening, and intentional community outreach. I understand that new members and those unfamiliar with our organization benefit from hearing personal stories that reflect diverse experiences. Sharing my own journey—while remaining mindful of cultural differences—helps build trust and connection.
Through my support of over 20 nonprofit events annually across Tucson, I have developed relationships with local leaders and gained insight into the region’s diverse demographics. I will actively seek out potential speakers and collaborators who align with our chapter’s values, even if they are not directly involved in project management. This advocacy broadens our reach and brings fresh perspectives to our inclusive programming, ensuring that all voices are represented and valued.
As a Mexican American woman, I actively champion inclusivity by creating spaces where every member feels empowered to contribute, lead, and grow—because inclusive leadership is the key to building lasting impact and driving meaningful change.
