Presentation Title
Adaptive Project Delivery for Automation & Control Engineering Projects
Topic Summary
Automation and control engineering projects operate at the intersection of hardware, software, safety, and operations. Unlike traditional IT projects, these initiatives must accommodate physical constraints, commissioning phases, regulatory requirements, and live operational environments.
This session explores how adaptive, Agile-inspired project delivery approaches can be applied to automation and control engineering projects without compromising safety, quality, or governance. Using real-world examples from industrial automation and control system programs, the presentation demonstrates how incremental delivery, iterative validation, and early stakeholder involvement can reduce rework, manage risk, and improve schedule predictability in complex engineering environments.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
• Understand how Agile concepts translate into automation and control engineering projects
• Apply incremental and iterative delivery to control system design, testing, and commissioning
• Improve coordination between engineering, operations, and project management teams
• Reduce late-stage surprises through early validation and staged acceptance
• Balance adaptive delivery with safety, compliance, and project controls
