Jennifer Johnson

Biography
I am an experienced technical program manager with an engineering background. I enjoy the challenge of taking an idea from development to production. I attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. I received my PMP in March 2023 and a LEAN Green Belt in October 2024.
In my last role, I was the Director of Engineering at a small, private firm working on DoD contracts to design and build custom rugged computer and display systems. Before that, I worked in the aerospace Industry designing and building aircraft communication equipment. I started at that company as a design engineer then moved into project engineering eventually working as a program manager. I believe that applying the principles of project and program management can make anything better.
I live in Prescott and enjoy the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Current PMI Chapter Volunteer Position Held (if any):
None

Why are you running?
I’m running for a position on the Board because I want to play a part in making our new PMI Arizona Chapter successful! I enjoy being a part of something bigger and want to have a hand in ensuring the chapter best serves the members in Arizona. I’m excited about the opportunity to make a difference and ensure that the Chapter is everything it can be and meets the needs of the program management community in Arizona.

What specific personal talents, skills, or experience will you bring to the PMI Arizona Chapter?
I have been told that I was born a Program Manager and have tried other things, but in my heart, I’m a PM. I’m organized and resourceful. I’m detailed oriented and can see the big picture and understand what is worth the time and effort and what isn’t. I’m determined and willing to put in the work to make something right. I’m excited by challenges and love when a job is done well.

How do you envision the new AZ Chapter fostering inclusivity and delivering meaningful value to all members?
This new AZ chapter will continue to serve a diverse group of members in terms of experience, geographical location, industries, and focus. We should continue to offer the things that both chapters see as benefits and explore new ways that the chapter can serve members. Things like job resources, training opportunities, networking events (both virtual and in-person), and volunteer opportunities are all important and should be continued and grown.
I’m excited for the opportunity to be a part of making this new chapter a success.
