Aligning Projects with Organizational Strategy

Through engaging storytelling, Sandi will highlight the significance of this alignment and draw upon her own experiences, both successful and challenging, in achieving it. Attendees will gain valuable insights into understanding and applying organizational strategy to their projects. Additionally, the event will feature a group activity designed to encourage participants to share their own experiences and insights in this vital area of project management.

About the Speaker

Sandi Hemmingsen has worked in the electric power utility industry for almost 26 years and has her PMP certification from PMI.

Currently, she is a Project Manager level IV with New Generation Construction at APS with three large projects.  One to add inlet air chilling to existing generating units at two sites; one to add new generating units to meet forecasted load demand, and one to add a large microgrid for a major APS customer.

She started her utility career as an operator of a nuclear plant in South Carolina, obtaining her Senior Reactor Operator License in 2000.  She held several positions of increasing responsibility both in Operations and in Work Management/Projects before taking a detour and renovating and owning a small-town bookstore.  After the detour, she worked on four projects that replaced low pressure turbines at 2 different nuclear plants in the southeast (one single unit site and one 3-unit site).  She joined APS in July 2023.
